11/14/02, Monday, 2030-2200 Hours
Unconscious Person
Corriganville Regional Park, Simi Valley
Simi Valley Police observed an unconscious person in the rocks in Corriganville Regional Park. The team responded to access the subject and evaluated the subject. The team setup a technical rescue system to lower the subject down to a trail. A Ventura Sheriff helicopter was dispatched for standby and area lighting. The team carried the subject out to a waiting ambulance for further evaluation.

09/28/02, Saturday, 2000 Hours – 09/29/02, Sunday, 0730 Hours
Missing Person
Mutau Flats, Los Padres National Forest
A 71-year-old man separated from his hiking party in the Mutau Flats area. VCSAR East Valley team along with Upper Ojai, Fillmore and Canine teams responded. A search team hiked to where the subject was last seen and searched for tracks. Other search teams were sent to search surrounding areas. About 0730 hours a perimeter team spotted the subject hiking out. A Ventura Sheriff helicopter picked up the subject and the field teams and return to the command post. The subject was evaluated and released.

08/24/02, Saturday, 0800-1500 Hours
Search and Recovery
Rocky Peak
The team was called out to search for a reported body in the Rocky Peak area. The team along the a Canine team cadaver dog search the area. The body was found and the area was secured for the investigation. The team conducted the recovery.

04/28/02, Sunday, 0400-0900 Hours
Missing Person
Oak View
An Alzheimer patient walked way from his facility. The VCSAR Upper Ojai team initiated the search of the area. The East Valley team was called in to assist. The missing subject was found in a river bed unconscious. An ambulance was dispatch to transport the subject. View photos from the rescue in the gallery.

03/10/02, Sunday, 0200-0800 Hours
Missing Hiker
Tar Creek, Los Padres National Forest
A solo hiker was reported overdue in the Tar Creek area north of Fillmore. The VCSAR Fillmore team initiated the search and the East Valley and Canine teams were called in to assist. At first light a Ventura Sheriff helicopter flew in and searched the area. The missing subject was spotted and picked up by the helicopter. The subject was evaluated and treated at the command post for minor injuries and released.

01/29/02, Wednesday, 0400-0800 Hours
Overdue Subjects
Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreational Park
Subjects were reported overdue after going to an "off-road area". The Los Angeles Sheriff Santa Clarita SAR team initiated a search in the Hungry Valley State Park area. The East Valley and Fillmore teams were called in to search the Ventura County portion of the park. A helicopter spotted their vehicle stuck in the snow near Alamo Mountain. After further aerial search the subjects were spotted attempting to hike back to the main park area and were picked up by vehicle.

01/13/02, Sunday, 1730-2000 Hours
Missing Hiker
Boney Mountain, Santa Monica National Recreational Area
A hiker was reported lost in the Boney Mountain area. The team was dispatched to the area. A Ventura Sheriff helicopter spotted the subject and picked him up.

01/03/02, Thursday, 0400-1200 Hours
Missing Person
Simi Valley
An Alzheimer subject was reported overdue from a mountain bike ride to an unknown location. The team was called out to search the local trails. The search was called after the trails were cleared by both ground teams and a helicopter. The subject was later found in good condition in a backyard a few houses from his residence.
