East Valley team lost over 80 years of experience with the recent
retirements of six of our members. They were honored at a dinner
in March 2008 and presented with plaques commemorating their
many years of service to the team and the community.

Members Awarded the Medal of Merit - April 2006
On April 15, 2006,
the Police Officer Association of Ventura awarded eight members
of the the East Valley team and five members of the Upper Ojai
team the Medal of Merit for their rescue efforts during the
La Conchita mudslides on January 10, 2005. The Award Ceremonies
were held at the Reagan Library.

Holden, Ken Jeters, Eric Malindzak,
Ed Morian, Rob Rutter, and Dennis Wasserman.
Upper Ojai Recipients:
Larry Beckett, Kevin Hartigan, Mike Jauregui, John Mireles,
and John Peakes.

Conchita Rescue and Water Rescue Awards- 2005
On
March 29, 2005, the Ventura County Fire Department awarded
Ventura County Sheriff Search and Rescue members David Haas,
Dennis Wasserman, and Kevin Hartigan (Upper Ojai) Lifesaving
Medals for their rescue efforts during the early minutes
of the La Conchita Mudslides on January 10, 2005.
On
April 26, 2005, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors presented
a Resolution honoring
the Ventura County Sheriff Search and Rescue units for their
rescue efforts during the flooding and mudslides in January
2005.
